Volve Ocean Race Stopover

2018 Volvo Ocean Race – Newport Stop over

If you’re going to be in Newport this weekend for the Volvo Ocean in-port race on Saturday  or the start of Leg nine to Cardiff on Sunday be sure to keep an eye out for the Seven Marine powered Regulator 34SS flying the MacDougalls flag as it will be out and about on the course all weekend.

As a long standing Volvo Penta dealer we were very happy to learn last year that they had become the major share owner of Seven Marine.  MacDougalls was the first service center in all of New England for Seven Marine starting in 2014.   We started with repowering this boat with 557’s.  Since that time we have worked on numerous other Seven Marine powered boats as well as continue to upgrade this Regulator to include new 627’s, new Garmin electronics package featuring a custom fabricated helm to allow for dual 8624 displays, custom upholstery and Macris Industries Chroma accent lighting throughout.

Project Highlight: Seas The Day

Seas The Day

This Gamefisherman got a beautiful Garmin electronics upgrade. In the tower, we installed a GMI20 display, with a 7608xsv GPSMap and a VHF 110 radio. We then installed a whole new electronics package for the helm. We installed a 7616xsv GPSmap and a Fantom 4 radar. To pair up with the VHF 110, we installed a VHF 210 with AIS radio. No one should be cruising around the sound without their favorite tunes playing, so we installed a Fusion MS650 fully integrated into the Garmin network with two pairs of Fusion 7.7 Signature series speakers with LED light controls. To brighten up the scenery we added Lumitec Halo lights and Macris Industries engine room lighting. This was a great project for us to show our technical skills to provide the customer with full customization of the electronics upgrade. This boat may be 33′ but it definitely feels much larger. She rides beautifully across the sound, so keep your eyes peeled!

MyTaskit Pro completes independent ROI study of MacDougalls’ Cape Cod Marine Services

In any business time is money. So how much money is wasted time costing you? And how much can added efficiency contribute to your bottom line?

An independent study recently took a look at MyTaskit Pro in action. The goal of the study was to accurately measure how the Coordination module impacted workplace efficiency, and also how this translates to realized savings.

The study, conducted by Marine Business Advisors, took place in late 2016 at MacDougalls’ Cape Cod Marine Services, a full-service repair yard, marina and winter storage facility. MacDougalls’ deployed the Coordination module across their operation, allowing management, service and account teams to use the software to help them better manage day-to-day work coordination.

After just one month of using the software, here’s just a small sample of what the study found:

  • Dramatically improved billing cycles
  • Improved cash flow and operational efficiencies
  • Reduced time spent on internal communications
  • 50% reduction of unauthorized overtime

Recent Project Double Diamond Live Well

Recent Project: Double Diamond Live Well

Recently, renovations were done to a 59′ Viking sportfish named Double Diamond. The MacDougalls’ team designed and fabricated a new live well for this extraordinary sportfish as well as a completely re-designed lighting system. The live well has a capacity of over 120 gallons. This monster was custom fabricated to compliment the factory Viking lines. It was completely hand built with the fiberglass mold made in house with custom adjustable water flow controls. The cockpit was painted to match the factory finish, and blue and green Rigid Industries live well lights were installed. To compliment the new live well, additional deck hatches were fabricated and installed to allow for better access for service items. Also, over a dozen rod holders were equipped. The lighting system was a major contribution to this already spectacular boat. A brand new Rigid Industries RDS 54” spot light was added with 2 Rigid Industries M20’ flood lights on either side. Night time won’t seem so dark with these blaring. 16 Lumitec Rail2 tri-color lights and 10 Lumitec shadow quad color hardtop lights were also added to make Double Diamond stand out from the pack. This diamond is definitely any guys’ best friend.

Project of the Month (July 2016)

Project Highlight: 1996 26′ Regulator

MacDougalls’ Cape Cod Marine Service is now extending its high quality craftsmanship into the M Class brand of “like new” boats. Here is one of our most recent projects. Gray Fox a 1996 26′ Regulator which was previously called Pegasus. A new Awlgrip metallic topside paint job was applied with a completely refurbished hardtop and center console which has a custom dash and full Simrad electronics package. Along with the console electronics, new LED lighting was placed throughout the vessel with custom canvas enclosures and bolsters added. The entire vessel was soda blasted, matching the color at the bottom to the topsides. The deck was cut out to make way for a replacement fuel tank and a reinforced stringer system along with new plumbing and wiring throughout. For power, Gray Fox is charging with new twin Yamaha 200HP in-line four cylinder four stroke outboards which top out at a swift 50 mph! Keep an eye out for her in Edgartown this summer. Next up for the M Class projects is a 31′ Bertram, stay tuned!
